Q & A

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 56 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost perfection First this brush does shed but I haven't owned a brush that doesn't. I've owned expensive MAC brushes and cheap ELF ones, they all shed at some point. With that being said, this brush is wonderful. Idk if I would like it for just anything but it works perfect for the original foundation. Shedding does not bother me that much especially if it works well 09/06/2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by I like this brush, but it sheds so much! I really liked this brush for the first month or two of use. However, it started shedding a LOT after that and the bristles have started to break. I've only used the brush for about four months and I still like the brush for the coverage it provides with the Matte foundation, but the amount of shedding and breakage is ridiculous, especially for the cost. 20/04/2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by I SEE A LOT OF REVIEWS THAT ARE HORRIBLE I cannot believe a company such as Bare Minerals would not replace the brush when the entire head fell off the handle! I am about to pass on my brushes to my daughter & happened to find the customer reviews. During my initial orientation on all the products the sales associate spent quite some time talking about the wonderful quality of the brushes. I'm disappointed in all the products in general & the company for not standing behind their brushes. 06/04/2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Hit or Miss I have owned several Flawless Face brushes since I first started with BM around 2005. The first few were relatively thick, and soft. They shed lightly and I have used them for nearly 11 years now. I also recently purchased a synthetic version in a Christmas set that was quite lovely. BM always has good deals on synthetic brush sets around the Holidays, and Mother's day. If you hated the natural fiber version, I would suggest purchasing a limited edition set if you can find one some place online. Now, to be candid about my recent experiences with these brushes, they are quite horrible. As stated above, I am 11 years older than when I first started using BM products. I find the customized 8 pc. starter kit to be a great deal, so I usually purchase one when I want to try some new products. When I compare my old Flawless Face brush to the new ones from they seem to have lowered in quality. I know that at times it appears some products are just unlucky defectives, and they took a return at the Boutique for a brush that shed more than my cat. However, the newer brushes seem to be scratchier and they shed A LOT more than I am accustomed do. Again, if you're in the ball park for an upgrade look into the synthetic fiber brushes. It gives good coverage, and is a great multi-tasking brush to have in your collection. 11/03/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Coverage This brush is great at giving full coverage for foundation. I always use this brush everyday and have in the past cleaned them with the bare minerals cleaning products which makes them feel new again. As these brushes can be pricey. The down side is that it does shed bristles. 20/02/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by terrible brush I received this brush as part of a kit, and had to stop using it after just a few uses. I couldn't figure out why I kept getting hairs in my eyes, then I realized they were bristles from the brush. Even a freebie should have lasted longer than this did. 31/01/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed Bought the complete flawless complexion kit and this brush was part. I have had way cheaper brushes that are holding up better. With the low ratings, I wonder why they would make it part of the package. I clean them all carefully but this one just does not compare to others I have. Very disappointed. 18/01/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for applying bronzer! I use this brush to apply my Ready bronzer and it works great! 09/08/2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by It's OK Got this brush when I started using Bare Minerals about 2 years ago. When I bought the brush, the sales rep told me I can use baby shampoo to clean it, which I have been for 2 years. I lay my brushes flat to dry and do not scrub or do anything harsh with them. The past few months the hairs have been shedding everywhere (my face, my counter, in the makeup). Eventually, the entire head of the brush came off the handle. Had to throw it away. I called the company and they basically told me it's normal wear and tear and my warranty is up; time to get a new one. I would think a $20 brush would last more than 2 years if taken care of, but I guess I'm wrong. Not sure why anyone would spend $20 on a makeup brush that isn't long lasting when you can get one at CVS for cheaper than also isn't long lasting. Just my opinion. While it was in tact, it did work well though. Good coverage, not cakey. 03/08/2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by This brush is horrible! After just a couple uses this brush started shedding and breaking off all over my face and body. I have continued to use it though and it has only gotten worse. I hope to find another brush with better quality. I DO NOT recommend purchasing this brush!! 05/06/2015

I know its a weird question but using it frequently and washing wid a plain shampoo/ face wash makes it a little rough and scratchy... So I was just wondering if it would be right to use a conditioner after washing the brush..

Answer:
I've found with brushes that hair shampoo isn't great for them.
Best thing you could do (in my opinion) is switch to a make up brush cleaner. These are made so they clean the brushes of any makeup, have antibacterial in them so that they kill any germs on the brush and they have the conditioning aspect as well.

Answer:
I never condition my brushes, I just wash them with johnsons baby shampoo, rince very well and then leave them to dry flat.

Once dry, I swirl around my palm of hand to reshape

Answer:
Johnsons baby shampoo.

I have been washing my brushes with this for years.

After washing, make sure you rince the shampoo off well, then lie the brush flat to dry.
Once the brush is dry, swirl it on the palm of your hands to reshape.

Answer:
Before I invested in the brush shampoo I used to use my facial cleanser - Dermalogica special cleansing gel. It did the trick and I figured if it was good enough for my face it should be fine for the brushes ;-)
A friend uses baby shampoo.
Hope this helps.

Answer:
I find the BareMinerals shampoo works best to wash my brushes with as it really gets into all of the cracks and washes them well, but because of the sensitivity of the brush I would use a regular shampoo, as that will still wash the brush well without causing too much damage.

Answer:
When I have run out of my BM shampoo in the past I have used baby shampoo - it's really gentle but still cleans the brushes really well.
