  • BEliever Tip!

"I lightly mist my Flawless Application Face Brush with mineral water and then Swirl, Tap, Buff® as usual. My skin tends to the dry side and this method leaves a smooth, dewy look." — Michelle B.

Applying the Makeup is Easy

  • Swirl, Tap, Buff

  • 1. Swirl
a small amount of bareMinerals into the lid with the Flawless Application Brush (for lighter coverage) or the Full Coverage Kabuki Brush (for more coverage) until the bareMinerals are tucked into the bristles.

    2. Tap
off excess. bareMinerals should not be visible on the outside of the brush.

    3. Buff
bareMinerals onto the skin in a swirling, circular motion, starting on the outside of your face near your cheekbones. Then, buff around your face, working your way to the cheeks, forehead, and nose. Buff until you're satisfied with the coverage. Less is more when applying bareMinerals.

Makeup that doesn't appear made up Now I wonder why i didn't try this product before.. I always assumed mineral makeup is not for dry skin.. I am absolutely delighted with this product. Thankfully I dropped into John lewis to get colour match. Other wise i would have ended buying Warm Tan instead of Golden Tan. It looks really natural and didn't react on my sensitive skin which almost all brands did.... Also most of the liquid foundation i have used made me look like a ghost however lightly i applied despite being colour matched. Also like many have said, I didn't have the problem of mixing 2 shades to get the perfect match. Golden Tan colour covers up everything and gives a natural no makeup like look which is exactly what i wanted. Thank u BM.. 12/08/2014
If you have dry skin, please read I personally have very, very dry skin around my chin, sides of nose, and cheeks, yet very oily skin on my t-zone. This foundation seemed to really accentuate my dry spots the first time I used it. I applied the mineral veil beneath this foundation (it is supposed to help newbies not have so much itching) and just a bit of mineral veil on top. After some experimenting, I found that the mineral veil was a huge no-no for my dry skin, as it made areas that weren't all that dry look terribly dry. The application of this foundation (the buffing) is allegedly not good for dry skin as it is a form of micro exfoliation (and we dry skinned people know how exfoliation can be an enemy). You can use puffs to press this powder on, but I just really love buffing and have been trying to work around the dry skin issue because truly this foundation is amazing and makes my face look so even and smooth when I fist put it on. I really recommend dry skinned people to be aware that you may have issues with this foundation, and it may help to use a spray setter (a product you spray on after applying your makeup) and it helps set the bare minerals and reduce the appearance of dry patches. You must moisturize and use primer, or you will not have a good experience with this foundation. I will continue to try and make this foundation work for me because I love it so much and know it is not harming my skin like some foundations that are less natural. 10/07/2014
Miracle Stuff Apart from having dry skin, I also have what, apparently, is quite an unusual tone. It varies, over the seasons, from a rather sickly yellow, to a really lovely olive/tan. Needless to say I've had a very difficult time matching foundation at any given time of the year. I've resorted to something akin to 'alchemy' - mixing and matching all sorts of products in an attempt to reach an acceptable result. No longer. I've discovered this product, having used mostly liquids up to now, and am amazed at the results. Used over serum, moisturiser and primer, this (Medium Tan) produces immaculate, virtually flawless results; you'd never guess my skin was dry now. In fact, I've had people commenting on how 'well' I look: which is wondrous for me, since I've been in seriously ill health for several years now. Having solved the quality/finish issue, I'm in the process of finding out which are the lighter and darker shades to this, and plan to continue my alchemy, using mixes of different ratios, in small pots containing plastic sifters, to cover my whole spectrum. I am now a fully fledged BM convert and have recently bought other products, with which I'm equally pleased. Thank you for improving this little getting-older woman's life! 06/07/2014
The original that I will never live without When pushing 40 I started thinking, you know what, I need to try something new for my face. I wasn't liking the way my skin looked dull and settled into my fine lines with other foundation products I'd been using. So after getting a little sample of this Original Bare Minerals Foundation product with a teeny tiny little brush as a free sample at a beauty store I thought, hmm, interesting, I've never tried a mineral make up before. So I went online looking for tutorial videos, learned more about the product and how to apply it and gave it a try. OMG I'm soooo glad I got that free sample because I fell in love with product from day one. I have gotten so many compliments since switching to Bare Minerals. My skin looks , I don't know, just healthier and prettier, and dare I even say. . . Younger! I love this foundation. I like a natural looking sheer-medium type coverage and this mineral foundation goes on so lovely, I love the finish, love the way it looks so natural, not cakey, not drawing attention to my fine lines by settling into them like most powder make ups do. I recommend Bare Minerals to everyone and have convinced others to switch because they saw the difference in how my skin was now looking better without me even mentioning I was trying something new. After receiving compliments and explaining what I was using that was new, other people close to me have started using the BM line too now. An additional bonus, my husband has always been complimentary but I have caught him just staring at my face more lately and saying things like, your skin looks so pretty, are you wearing any make up? It looks that natural and radiant that people can't really tell that it's make up that's making my skin look better and I love that because I am all about a natural look. 06/07/2014
What a Pleasant Surprise! I have dry skin so for as long as I can remember I have regarded powders with suspicion and fear. I decided to give this foundation a try not really expecting much from it but wow, I am officially a convert. It applies beautifully and at a glance it is impossible to tell I even have makeup on. Better still it has covered several painful, red blemishes to the point where they are almost non-existent. Fair is also the absolute most perfect match for me which is an added bonus (for reference for you paler ladies I'm around an NW10 in MAC foundatons). I'm really wishing I had given this a try sooner. Best £50 I have spent in a LONG time. 03/07/2014
Amazing I have very sensitive, dry, and acne prone skin. I have been looking for years for a product that would not only cover my imperfections but not cause more. This is perfect! I have not had any breakouts since using this and it does not dry out my face like I thought it would. I can't even tell I'm wearing makeup it feels so nice. I will be using bareminerals products exclusively from now on. 24/06/2014
Great foundation, but more shades are in need This foundation is perfect for what I am looking for. A medium coverage foundation that looks flawless without that makeup feel on your skin. I didn't give this foundation all the hearts because I am right between two foundation shades (fairly light and medium beige). I really wish Bare Minerals would come out with a shade between these two intensities as I am probably going to have to look for something else come winter when my skin gets paler and medium beige is too dark and fairly light too light for me. 18/06/2014
My makeup for Life I am so in love with Bare Minerals, so easy to use, and blends perfectly with my skin tone. I even use the Mineral Veil and the eye shadows. I'm hooked for life. I am in my fifties and get compliments all the time on my skin. Thank you Bare Minerals! 14/06/2014
BEST Foundation Ever! I have used many different foundations and powders, and this is by far the BEST one I have ever used. Even if you don't exactly match the shade, but you get close enough, it blends into *your* skin tone to match it. And it literally feels as though you are wearing nothing. My friends have told me they can't tell I'm even wearing make-up on my face, that I just look like I'm glowing. It covers what you need, without covering *you*, if that makes sense. Best part, my complexion has improved so much since I made the switch. I have not had one zit since I started using Bare Minerals, and it's been 6 weeks now. You won't be able to put your finger on exactly why, but your face just looks prettier. And the Prime Time Foundation Primer is a must-have to go along with this. I have worn this during my 13-hour shifts at work and to the gym, and my make-up STILL looks good :) 03/06/2014
Best Foundation I've Ever Used This is the best foundation I have found. My skin is very sensitive and I don't need a ton of coverage- this is the only foundation that I can use. No other brands compare. 30/05/2014

Definitely not, in my opinion. I'm 64 and have dry skin, and find the BM foundation just wonderful. It might take a while to master the technique, buffing with a brush, but a store rep would be very pleased to demonstrate. If you haven't already done so, I'd say - go for it!

Absolutely, all our Foundations are suitable for all skin-types. If you are concerned about dry skin we would recommend moisturising and using our Prime Time Foundation Primer prior to applying our bareMinerals Foundation. This will help to smooth over any dry patches and give you perfect foundation application. Also our bareMinerals READY SPF 20 Foundation is great for those with dry skin as the formula is really hydrating. Hope this helps.

I love this foundation and got brought the starter kit for Christmas but as I am a student with a low income I wondered how long the foundation has been lasting people as I wouldn't be able to go out and just buy it again when it's gone, I'd have to put some money away?

I'm also a student so I can easily tell you it lasts quite a while! I got my starter kit almost two years ago now and its just running out. Depending on how often you use it, it should still last you a long time. I bought the larger 'original' foundation for myself (with my student loan!) and I can guarantee that it will last a while.

We can't give you a guaranteed answer unfortunately as it all depends on how much you use, but on average we would advise a standard pot of our bareMinerals Foundation would last about 3-4 months.

It is very difficult to shade match online. If your skin tone is more yellow when tanned then we would recommend trying the shade Light. However if your skin goes a pink more of a pink tone when tanned then we would recommend trying out Fairly Medium. You could always check out our online Foundation Shade Finder to help you decide: http://bit.ly/12Njp5g

Dear Sir/Madam,
I bought the Golden deep N50 (compact foundation). This colour was perfect for me. Unfortunately I accidently dropped it all on the floor. I went in store to get a replacement and was given a colour that was too yellow in tone for my complexion - R510. Can you please tell me what this colour is now called ? And whether I need to get the cool or golden range.

If possible, I think it would help a lot of your customers if a chart of the original compact foundation colours and their correlating replacements were posted online. Thanks.

Our bareMinerals READY SPF20 Foundation in Golden Deep was renamed to shade R510. If you still find this too yellow for your complexion we would recommend trying out R530. It may be best to pop into one of counters for another shade match so you can be sure you’re getting the right shade for your skin tone. The shades for our bareMinerals READY SPF20 Foundation never changed, only the names of them did. On our bareMinerals READY SPF 20 Information Page we do have a comparison guide to help you out between Original SPF15 Foundation shades & bareMinerals READY SPF20 Foundation shades: http://bit.ly/19tLxTQ

It is really difficult to shade match online. Our READY SPF20 Foundation tends to be slightly lighter than our Original SPF15 Foundation, so even though R210 may be little too light, Medium in our Original Foundation may be the right shade. If you can, try to pop into your local bareMinerals Counter to get shade matched by one of our Beauty Ambassadors. If this isn't an option we would recommend trying our Medium if you have a slight pinky tone to your skin, and Medium Beige if you have a neutral skintone.

Hi,
I usually use medium tan during the summer months but if that comes up too dark for you mix a little of your medium beige and medium tan together to give you a more customized colour which you can tweak to your skin tone :)

It is really difficult to shade match online, as your skin-tone may slightly change when you have a tan. Your Medium Beige has neutral undertones, and if you feel that with a tan you still have neutral undertones, we would recommend trying the shade Tan. You can always pop into your local bareMinerals Counter to get shade matched by one of our Beauty Ambassadors.

It has not been scientifically proven that SPF in make-up affects the quality of your skin in photos at all - from my experience it seems to be an urban myth. Moreover, the SPF of Bare Minerals make-up is fairly low and, if working in tandem with a blush or bronzer, should not be an issue in photography. The fine texture of Bare Minerals foundation and it's luminous finish should make it for perfect wedding-day make-up :) Hope this helps!

Our Original and Matte Foundations used with Mineral Veil will give you a naturally flawless look on your wedding day. The SPF in the foundations should not have any negative effect on your wedding photographs. If you were looking for a longer-wearing, fuller coverage you could always try our READY SPF20 Foundation which launches nationwide in March.
