  • BEliever Tip!

"I lightly mist my Flawless Application Face Brush with mineral water and then Swirl, Tap, Buff® as usual. My skin tends to the dry side and this method leaves a smooth, dewy look." — Michelle B.

Applying the Makeup is Easy

  • Swirl, Tap, Buff

  • 1. Swirl
a small amount of bareMinerals into the lid with the Flawless Application Brush (for lighter coverage) or the Full Coverage Kabuki Brush (for more coverage) until the bareMinerals are tucked into the bristles.

    2. Tap
off excess. bareMinerals should not be visible on the outside of the brush.

    3. Buff
bareMinerals onto the skin in a swirling, circular motion, starting on the outside of your face near your cheekbones. Then, buff around your face, working your way to the cheeks, forehead, and nose. Buff until you're satisfied with the coverage. Less is more when applying bareMinerals.

ORIGINAL SPF 15 Foundation - null is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 565.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you for the new shades!!! I'm not new to the Bare Minerals original foundation, BUT for the last 7 years I've been playing 'mad scientist' and mixing fair with fairly light to try and make my perfect shade. Today an associate helped shade match me to one of the 10 new shades and fairly ivory is that shade that I've been mixing for years to achieve. Thank you Bare Minerals for finally adding shades and giving me a match!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Makeup Staple This foundation has been around for years, so naturally it has gained equally as many lovers as haters - everyone has to remember that just because a product works for one person, does not mean it will work for everyone! So please bare this in mind. I don't normally review products for the reason above, but I feel as though if I were ever to recommend a product it would be this one. I have suffered with cystic acne since I was 12 (I am now nearly 24). I have been to a dermatologist, been treated with Accutane (isotretinoin), and have the most regimented skincare known to man - and ya'll know if I've been lazy and used a makeup wipe one evening. I am extremely fair, to the point where Kat Von Ds tattoo lock-it foundation is probably the closest match I can find. I don't suffer like I did when I was younger, but I normally have a blemish or two on my face, and the occasional cyst will rear its ugly head. However, those who have suffered with acne will know that even once the breakouts have been cured, your skin is never the same. I have the typical hormonal redness around the T-Zone, with poor texture, surface and keloid scarring. Now this foundation does not work MIRACLES. I have to use a primer otherwise this will emphasise my pores. And it is not full coverage - however, if you BUFF this into the skin it does cover redness, and improves your skin to make it look more radiant. In other words, 'a more beautiful you'. I've used this since I was 16 and always come back to it - as a secondary school teacher and for day-to-day wear this foundation is perfect. It evens out my skin tone but looks natural. And people need to remember that natural-looking coverage will allow some imperfections through. You will see freckles however I think freckles are beautiful so why cover up your natural beauty - be proud! It improves scarring, and it doesn't irritate my skin - however I don't have sensitive skin (a regular user of retinol and azealic acid does that). I love full coverage on nights out so will usually use this on top of another foundation! You have to remember it is only powder, therefore can only do so much. Continued use will allow an improvement in your skin normally as it uses natural products so is normally better for your skin - but again, this may not be the same for everyone. I use the shade golden fair as I'm one of these rare species that has porcelain skin with warm, yellow undertones. It is slightly darker BUT blends well and isn't noticeable so don't let that put you off - pale girls should check whether they'd be fair or golden fair! A good liquid concealer is ideal under this for those who like to conceal there imperfections and wear light weight foundation. Those who like to wear another layer of skin (I do like that look on a night out or special occasion) may not like this. Hope this helps. I would recommend this! It makes me feel comfortable and confident with the way I look naturally and not as if I'm wearing a mask!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Be wary I originally thought this product was amazing. However, after a few weeks of wearing it regularly my skin started getting very bad - large painful cyst like spots in places that i never had spots before. Which meant I used the product more. It then twigged. The foundation was causing this reaction. As soon as I stopped using it my skin showed an improvement. However, it has taken 6 long and embarrassing months for my skin to get back to normal. Note- I have never had an allergic reaction to any product before. I don't have have sensitive skin. Be very wary of using this product. And stop using it immediately if you notice any changes to your skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best foundation ever! I have sensitive, combination skin with mild rosacea and I've tried all sorts of liquid foundations which never worked. This doesn't irritate my skin, works wonders at hiding the redness and lasts ages (unlike classic liquid make up I had to reapply mid day). I use it with the Multi Tasking Concealer and my skin has never looked so good. Thank you Bare Minerals!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Light Foundation The foundation was really flaky and irritated my skin. It offered some coverage but was really noticeable and "cakey."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Foundation I have been using this foundation for five years now. I have acne prone skin and this does an amazing job covering everything with a very natural looking finish.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not at all what I had expected! I wanted to love this, I really did, but I didn't like it at all! Both my daughter and I hated it. It does not cover well at all, and the more you put on the more "cakey" it feels! It did not cover my freckles, and it did not cover the redness on my face, even after several layers. It felt very uncomfortable on my skin. Overall, I'm very disappointed. I've wanted to try bare minerals for a long time, and when I finally did, I was very let down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Posting for 13 Year Old Heartbroken Girl I will say that Bare Minerals has always been my first choice since it has come out, I purchased a starter kit for oldest, who is now 24, years ago and she continues to use Bare Minerals. So I could not wait to get this for my teen daughter as a major gift for Christmas. We got this, the mineral veil, serum concealer, kabuki brush, Good Clean Fun and the Countdown to Gorgeous. So you can imagine how excited she was, So after Christmas she started wearing all her Bare Minerals and was happy but she kept itching on her face and her eyes were dry all the time. Come to find out she is allergic to every product that she received as a gift for Christmas and in the Advent calendar. This product is great but be aware of allergic reactions, my daughter was in misery for a few days after using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite foundation I use the shade medium beige and it just makes my skin look flawless and natural. The best brush is definitely the beautiful finish brush as it is so soft and you can build the coverage up from sheer to full. I also think the foundation is good value, as it will last a very long time.

Q & A

What colour should I choose?

I have been using Golden Tan all summer but this will be too dark for the winter. Please can you recommend a colour that I should use?
Asked by: KathyA

cover the bags? what can i use?

I use foundation to cover the bags at the moment , but because I have to put a lot, it tends to "crinkle" and make me look old - am i not moisturizing enough or what should i use? and i apply it with the small brush (full coverage).
Asked by: Lups
I think the best thing to use would be the spf20 powder concealer (bisque shades) with a concealer brush as it doesn't crinkle, because you don't need to use as much as it has full coverage. Then use the foundation on the other areas of the face. Hope this helps

Why does my foundation look ashy?

I was shade matched for the original foundation a couple of years ago and was a Medium Tan. The colour used to be perfect on me but I've notice in the last couple of months that my foundation has begun to look ashy. Have the shades changed or am I doing something wrong?
Asked by: Gabi
Sometimes your skin tone may change due to climate, or just general raging. My skin was always very pink undertones, but now I am very yellow. If your shade is looking to ashy, try and see if you could be matched again, or maybe choose a foundation shade that is slightly more warmed toned.

How long can I keep my loose foundation?

I've had the same loose foundation for about 2 years (I don't use it often, but love it!) How long will it keep and will it have the same effect after this length of time?
Asked by: Trisha57
Powders last for a long time, since it's dried and in a airtight container when not in use. I feel like two years might be pushing it a bit though as every time you open and use it the powder will stick to itself that little bit more.

Is mineral foundation ok for an older skin on the dry side.

I have noticed that some people are saying that it can look ageing, is this true.
Asked by: christa
My mum tried bare minerals and she was 42 at the time and she felt it sat upon her skin and aged her however I think it is a personal choice! If you go into a bare minerals store they will be able to try the foundation on your face and you can test it for yourself!

I just wondered how long the foundation has been lasting people roughly?

I love this foundation and got brought the starter kit for Christmas but as I am a student with a low income I wondered how long the foundation has been lasting people as I wouldn't be able to go out and just buy it again when it's gone, I'd have to put some money away?
Asked by: Chels
I was also introduced to bare minerals through the starter kit and the actual foundation in the starter kit is much smaller than what the foundation would be if you bought it in store. If buying the foundation itself and not in a kit, it lasts me so much more around 6 months! I bought one end of June and by end of December i had to buy a new one.

I usually use Fairly Light but since moving to Australia I'm slightly more tanned - what would be the next shade darker?

Unfortunately I can't find anywhere in Melbourne to go and try a different shade darker than my existing Fairly Light, but I'm keen to re-order as I love the Bare Minerals range and find it really suits my skin!
Asked by: pictionary445
I've been using Fairy Light too, but when I came back from holiday I moved to just Light as my skin keeps its tint (slightly olive-coloured) once it tans but this might be different for you. If you go a little red once you've tanned you might want to try fairy medium.

Which Colour Replaced My Old Compact Foundation?

Dear Sir/Madam, I bought the Golden deep N50 (compact foundation). This colour was perfect for me. Unfortunately I accidently dropped it all on the floor. I went in store to get a replacement and was given a colour that was too yellow in tone for my complexion - R510. Can you please tell me what this colour is now called ? And whether I need to get the cool or golden range. If possible, I think it would help a lot of your customers if a chart of the original compact foundation colours and their correlating replacements were posted online. Thanks.
Asked by: Berries
Our bareMinerals READY SPF20 Foundation in Golden Deep was renamed to shade R510. If you still find this too yellow for your complexion we would recommend trying out R530. It may be best to pop into one of counters for another shade match so you can be sure you’re getting the right shade for your skin tone. The shades for our bareMinerals READY SPF20 Foundation never changed, only the names of them did. On our bareMinerals READY SPF 20 Information Page we do have a comparison guide to help you out between Original SPF15 Foundation shades & bareMinerals READY SPF20 Foundation shades: http://bit.ly/19tLxTQ bareMinerals x

I;ve tried the Ready Foundation in shade R210 but find is just a but too pale , want to rry the original loose foundation , what shde would you rec

not sure if meduim or medium beige would be best
Asked by: KBJBCB
It is really difficult to shade match online. Our READY SPF20 Foundation tends to be slightly lighter than our Original SPF15 Foundation, so even though R210 may be little too light, Medium in our Original Foundation may be the right shade. If you can, try to pop into your local bareMinerals Counter to get shade matched by one of our Beauty Ambassadors. If this isn't an option we would recommend trying our Medium if you have a slight pinky tone to your skin, and Medium Beige if you have a neutral skintone. bareMinerals x
