bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation SPF20 - null
Product Review – bareMinerals BARESKIN Pure Brightening Serum Foundation – Bare Natural
I have been using the above-mentioned foundation for about five months now. I was a little skeptical at first because of the price, but after I went to the store and had a test application; I was convinced this was the foundation I needed. I have struggled throughout the years trying to find a foundation that looks natural yet still provides adequate coverage. I have dealt with acne, and I have a combination of oily and dry skin. Finding foundation with the right look and feel has been a like series of trial and error, until now.
Look and Feel
BareMinerals is well known for their no-makeup look and feel. The name of the product is BARESKIN, and that is precisely what it feels like when you wear the foundation. As someone who likes the natural look and lightweight feel, this foundation is perfect for you. I personally don’t like the “caked-on” appearance that most other similar products leave you with, but you don’t have to worry about that with this Pure Brightening Serum Foundation. The lightweight, flawless look and feel comes from the fact the foundation is made without oil, silicone, parabens and fragrance. It has been dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic and formulated for all skin types and skin tones. When I say all skin tones, bareMinerals provides you with 20 different shades of the foundation to choose from. The shade I wear is called Bare Natural. I like this one because it matches my skin tone perfectly without making it noticeable that I am wearing make up. It delivers smooth coverage and evens out my skin tone as well as covering any blemishes I may have.
Price and Affordability
If you are shopping for this product on the bareMinerals website, you will find it for $29.00 for a one ounce bottle. My first thought was that this dollar amount seems a little steep and overpriced for only one ounce of foundation. My second thought was that I could find a similar one-ounce bottle of foundation for about half the price at Target. Yes, the $15.00 bottle seems more appealing to your bank account, but you are getting what you pay for. The bareMinerals foundation is well worth the $29.00 if you’re looking for the healthy, no make-up look and feel. I have tried numerous cheaper brands, and have never found one I am satisfied with. To me, the $29.00 is completely worth every penny. It also helps that when you use the bareMinerals foundation, you only need to use about a pea-size drop to cover your entire face. Since I have been using the same bottle for five months, if you do the math that’s $5.80 per month. That number will also decrease because I expect the bottle will last another month or so.
Since you’re interested in this product and you took the time to read my review, I hope you find it to be helpful when shopping for your next foundation. I recommend giving bareMinerals BARESKIN Pure Brightening Serum Foundation a try. It looks and feels great and is definitely well worth your money.
Another great product!
I have sensitive skin plus need some SPF protection. This product gives me both and makes my skin look great! I have been a Bare Minerals customer for many years now and I have never been disappointed in their products.
I like the product overall, and will probably purchase again, but there are several things that bother me:
*poorly designed bottle leaks and easily gets clogged
*there is simple no way to completely clean the brush, which gets gross
*foundation can become cake-y when applies. When you try to blend it in, it comes off
Skin looks nice and not red after wearing it
I was frustrated because after taking my makeup off, my face would be red! It has been like this for as long as I remember. Then, I switched my foundation to bareSkin and my pores and skin tone looked so nice after taking the makeup off, and not red. Finally, when I was looking, I found this product and on top of that I love the glow. Thank you for making this product!
Hated this product
I bought this foundation and the woman tried it on me in the store, it looked nice and felt light on my face. so i bought it.
However, when i went to use it the next day from home, i found that once i had shaken it, it smelt like olive oil and came out on my hand a little bit red. when i applied it to my face, it didnt give me a nice coverage or finish and made my face very patchy and looked like i had been rubbing it off all day; which i hadn't.
i would not recommend this product at all.
Not a fan
I wasn't a really big fan of this product. I have combo/oily skin. It will cling to dry skin (even after I exfoliate and use moisturizer) and slide/crease on oily skin (even with a primer and mineral veil). I also felt like this oxidized a little because after a full day of wear it looked much darker. So for me it doesn't really work.
I really like this product except for the fact that most of the time after you shake it it erupts like a volcano. I have lost a lot of the product. I now use a Q-tip to use what has erupted but it does not cover flawlessly once it becomes a little dry. I have found that when you shake it up and put a drop in the brush you recommend to use it is an unbeatable product. However, when 9 times out of 10 you cannot use the product properly because it gushes out of the bottle I hesitate to buy another one and watch my money go down the drain. As much as I like it when working properly, I will try another brand.
Not good for oily skin
I told the sales person that I wanted a foundation that would cover and not make my face oily and break out. This is not it. My skin looks worse with it on. It's extremely oily and it creases easily so I have lines of makeup on my face and don't even know it. Even with primer, it's almost as if it doesn't stick to the skin and is just sliding on top of it. Would not recommend. I'm returning it.
I really do like this foundation. I don't wear make up daily because I don't have to. But when I do, I don't like my foundation to have that weird, fake, powdery look. This foundation doesn't do that and I love it.
The only thing that seriously upsets me is that the foundation for some reason will just leak out of the bottle! Especially when it asks you to shake it before application, I think air gets trapped inside and so the foundation will just seep out like crazy. Or, I can't leave it in my make up bag because it moves around. So when I go to open it, it just leaks out like a volcano. I think I might've lost almost half of this bottle just because of that! Its SO annoying and wasteful. Especially when this small bottle is $30!
I am reconsidering even purchasing another one when the time comes because of this issue. And its not an infrequent event, it happens every single time I try to open the bottle. Even when I have it standing, (I stopped putting it in my make up bag to try to see if that would help the seeping) and it still does it.
Seriously Bare Minerals, there needs to be a solution to this.
Absolutely love it!!!
I absolutely love this foundation. It has great coverage. I can't complain at all. I will continue to buy this. Thanks to the ladies who helped me in the boutique :)
